During this small and supportive workshop, I will guide you step by step through the entire process, from creating the flower centre and individual petals to assembling the finished piece and adding a secure wall-hanging fixing.
We will use a beautiful heavily flecked stoneware clay, which will later be finished with a soft white tin glaze, allowing the natural speckles in the clay to show through.

How to dry a large flower safely to help prevent cracking
An introduction to bisque firing, stoneware firing and glazing
No previous experience is required. Complete beginners and more experienced ceramic makers are equally welcome. All techniques will be clearly demonstrated, and you will receive individual guidance throughout the day.
All clay, materials and use of tools
Tea, coffee, refreshments and snacks
A 30-minute lunch break
Bisque and stoneware firings
Tin-glaze finishing, completed by me after the workshop
A detailed PDF handout to help you continue making and experimenting with your own flower designs
Further support after the workshop should you have any questions
Your finished flower will need time to dry, be fired, glazed and fired again. It will usually be ready to collect from the studio within approximately three weeks. Postal delivery can also be arranged for an additional cost.
The workshop takes place in my peaceful, plant-filled studio beside the River Thames and the Thames Barrier. Thames-Side Studios has a café on site and free visitor parking.
