Peony Noir
The peony has long been one of my favourite flowers — though I confess I could never truly choose. I’m endlessly captivated by its transformation: the tight bud that gradually unfurls into an abundant, cloud-like bloom. Its countless layers of petals hold both delicacy and grandeur, like soft fabric folding in endless waves, full of lightness yet so commanding. Observing peonies always fills me with joy, a reminder of nature’s generosity and the poetry hidden in growth and change.
This piece, hand-sculpted in smooth black stoneware, distills that sense of abundance into form. Peony Noir can be displayed freestanding or mounted on the wall, either as a singular statement or in dialogue with other flowers in the series.
